What I loved about Sensaria

It is hard to talk about Sensaria in the past tense but that is the reality. They are gone and I am sad I lost a lot of my favorite products. At least I stocked up on the ones I really can't go without! They closed their business while I was on vacation in Sweden but now that I am home and recovered from my jet lag, I have been researching other skin care companies like crazy! I have been reading and watching where other reps have gone so I had a good list to start with. Also, I have mostly focused on skin care as that was one of my main loves. I figured I could find a lotion, body wash and body scrub much easier than a good skin care line. I am done with my rigorous testing of many different product lines and found one that I really like. Before I go into why I like that company and their products, I feel it is necessary to explain why I loved Sensaria so here we go!

However, maybe I should go back a little further first? I was blessed to have been introduced to some good skin care in my teens as I started out with using Clinique. It was great for my skin at the time and established a good foundation for me. However, when I went to college it wasn't always in my budget so I tried other things. I even sold Mary Kay for a short while too but that ended up irritating my skin after a while so I stopped selling it. I don't remember having problems with bad acne in my teens but there certainly was a problem with breakouts like any normal teen I suppose. I do remember having oily skin. I know my acne problems developed as I got older and especially flared up when I had kids. In my mid-20's, it was bad enough that I tried Proactive but that didn't last long as it was too harsh on my skin. I ended up settling on Origins for a few years before I tried Sensaria. I liked that they were sort of natural and stuff smelled good and it also seemed to work well for my skin too.

So, I was in my early 30's when a friend invited me to my first Sensaria spa party. I had never heard of them nor did I know what exactly a "spa party" was. My friend told me we were going to get pampered, soak our feet and drink some wine. That was all I needed to know! I ended up going with very little expectations and was very pleasantly surprised how much I liked it. I really loved the mango body butter and the skin care which really shocked me! I couldn't stop touching my face as it felt so soft. I think my husband thought I was a bit crazy for asking if he could feel a difference too. I ended up trading parties with this friend for about 2 years before I decided to join Sensaria and sell the products myself.

That was 5 years ago and I still love the products. I loved the way the skin care products smelled and how soft they made my skin feel. I loved the Citrus Cleaner and it was one item that could do so much! I could use on everything from blood and ink stains to washing windows and veggies. I even did my laundry with it! I loved how the body butter was never greasy or sticky and hydrated my skin all day. I loved the Nourishing Moisturizer and how it helped my son's eczema. I loved the mango, coconut and rosemary mint scents. I miss that sweet orange scent too that they had for a while. It was the best shampoo & conditioner until they discontinued it. I loved the Sweet & Smooth body scrub because of that orange scent and it was great to shave with. You get to exfoliate with the sugar and salt and then shave with the remaining oil. I loved the Optimize Eye Serum for getting rid of any puffiness and dark circles. I loved the Men's Face Scrub as it was sort of citrus-y and foamed so it cleaned and exfoliated at the same time! I also loved the Microdermabrasion scrub too as it was the gentlest scrub I have ever used and it made my skin so soft. I loved the foot scrub too as it was so minty and fresh and it made my feet feel great too.

Honestly, I could go on and on and on about what I loved. However, since I focused mainly on skin care during my search maybe I should tell you exactly what I used so maybe you can get a better idea of what all the other companies had to compare with? Here goes!

- Balancing Cleanser (PM ~ I felt it took off my makeup better)
- Mineral Genesis Cleanser (AM)
- Mineral Genesis Conditioning Mist (AM/PM)
- Optimize Eye Serum (AM)
- Line Diminisher (AM ~ even though it was discontinued, I still love it)
- SPF 28 (AM)
- Night Cream (PM)
- Mineral Genesis Gold (AM/PM)

Also, every other day or so I would exfoliate with either the Men's Face Scrub or Microdermabrasion depending on what I felt like. I also tried to mask with the Sea Silk Mask in between the days I scrub but I fell out of habit with it and used it about once a week. So, I think that about covers it!

What Are Your Sensaria Essentials?

You know moving sucks. I knew that. Really I did! I just forgot after living in our house for almost 8 years. I don't know if you missed my blog posts this month but the reason why they have been so sparse lately is because we just sold our house in May and it has been a crazy busy time getting things taken care of and moving forward on a new house that is being built for us. In the meantime, I am now all moved (but not unpacked) into an apartment until the new house is ready. So that means I will be moving again in a few months! It is crazy I tell you! Still, I think it will be all worth it to get our dream house.

Through all this I realized what Sensaria items I cannot live without. I packed up all the products I didn't need but here is my list of essentials. Tell me what yours is!

Nourishing Moisturizer ~ I use this lotion for my son's eczema so I never go anywhere without it. I find that I use it all the time on my hands since I wash my hands a million times a day. You know ... dishes, kid's snotty nose, laundry, kids, etc. I now have "Big Blue" (the 6oz size) at home and the smaller one for my purse.

Face Scrub for Men ~ No, it is not just for men! I really love this scrub because it is a little foamy so I feel like I can exfoliate and cleanse at the same time. I actually use it about every other day but it sure is a time saver and it smells good too!

Daily Sun Protection SPF 28 ~ I read a blog post on Sensariality about the importance of using a daily sunscreen on your face and I couldn't have agreed more! The more I use this sunscreen the more I love it! It goes on slightly white but it rubs in quickly. It is not greasy or chalky either. Use it everyday even if you use a foundation with SPF. I do!

Mineral Genesis Pure Gold ~ I actually love the whole line but this product is above and beyond my favorite. I just ran out before the move and I had already packed away my extra supplies. Boo hoo! This is just one of those products you have to try it yourself to understand why I love it so. Instant firming and beautiful, glowing skin are just a few of my reasons.

Lip Balm Trio ~ I have a tube of our lip balm in just about every room of the house plus two in my purse and one in each car. I think I have one of every scent ever made so it is always a nice surprise what flavor I will get depending on where I am. You know, it doesn't matter if it is one of those moving days where I don't care about my hair or makeup but I can't go without my lip balm. In fact, I need some right now! Yum! Tangerine!

Ok, I could go on and on and on but it's time for bed. Don't forget to share your Sensaria Essentials!

Getting Out Every Last Speck

I got this tip from my good friends who work together and they both gave me this tip so I am not sure who came up with it first. Anyway, they told me that they like to use their moisturizer to the very end before they order more but sometimes they don't plan their re-order so well so they end up running out before a new one comes. Being the resourceful gals that they are, they told me that in order to get every last speck of moisturizer out of the tube they end up cutting off the top where it is sealed together! Then they can reach in there with their fingers and scoop it clean. Sheesh! Here I was tapping the product on my counter to squeeze it all out. I just might try it their way next time I think I am all out! Let me know what you think too.

Favorite Product #4

I don't know if people from the home office are reading my blog or if we are just all on the same wave length! In this week's rep newletter our Product Development and Education Manager was asked to pick her 3 favorite products. Well, she couldn't narrow it down to three so she listed her top 6! It is hard to just pick one or three or five favorites since it depends on what it is for or what issue I am having right now. Now I don't feel so bad about having 12 that are on my favorite list! So ... are you wondering what this week's favorite product is?

It's Sensaria's Nourishing Moisturizer! For a long time, I hesitated to order this product for myself since this product is for dry skin and I have the opposite problem. A good friend of mine has dry skin and absolutely loves this lotion. She actually buys it in the large 6oz size tube because she uses it all over her body! In fact, this is our only facial lotion (yes, it was originally designed to use on your face) that comes in a bigger size. People just can't get enough of it! For anyone who asks me if we have an unscented Body Butter, I recommend that they try this product out since it has no scent and it is great for dry skin.

Anyway, why is it on MY favorite list? My son has had eczema since about birth and we have been trying to find something to soothe and heal his skin for about three years. We went through numerous doctor recommended products for his eczema. We even eventually had to resort to prescription creams but they can't be used on a regular basis because it damages the skin. Great huh? So, the prescription cream gets used when it flares up but I still needed something else to use between the bad times. We tried all the creams that you can find in any drug store but my son did not like a single one. Either it was too greasy or he told me they stung or sometimes he just plain didn't like it. I really hesitated about spending $21 on a cream for my 3 year old (at the time) but I thought ... aww heck why not? I could always give it to my friend who couldn't get enough of it right?

Well, it turned out to be the ONLY lotion that my son liked and asked for. He calls it his "blue lotion" since the color really is blue! It isn't some artificial color because we don't have those in our products. The blue comes from the ingredient Azulene which is derived from the Chamomile plant. It is naturally soothing and calming plus it wasn't greasy or slimy or whatever unpleasant feeling the other lotions left my son's skin feeling. It absorbed very nicely and I only had to use a very small amount. It shouldn't surprise me that it actually WORKS but it really did! We now have at least two tubes in the house ... one upstairs and one with his allergy medicines that we carry with us everywhere we go.

So, got dry skin? Got eczema? Do scents bother you? Then Nourishing Moisturizer is definitely the cream for you! Tell me why you love it too!

Nourishing Foot Treatment

There are a variety of products that can be used but in this example I will be highlighting Sensaria's Nourishing Moisturizer for this spa treatment. This lotion is blue and it is not from some added coloring. It comes from Azulene which is derived from the soothing Chamomile plant. This product isn't just for the face which is why it comes in a big 6oz tube as well as a 2oz one. I even use this lotion on my son's eczema and he loves using his "blue medicine".

Here are the instructions for this easy spa treatment:

  1. Clean your feet by treating yourself to a spa foot soak on the couch in front of the TV. I suppose this really isn't necessary but it sure feels good!
  2. Slather the lotion all over your feet and don't worry about having to rub it all in. However, you can treat yourself to a little foot massage too. Better yet ... have your partner do this for you!
  3. Get out some clean, cotton socks and put them over your moisturized feet.
  4. Go to bed!
  5. Take off your socks when you wake up in the morning and feel how soft and supple your little footsies are!
Now, if you hate wearing socks to bed like I do then put the lotion on after you take a shower. Cover your feet with socks and bum around the house or just do your normal weekend routine. You will notice a difference when those socks come off! Of course, you can use any lotion you have on hand but Sensaria's foot products also work great with this too. Sole Survivor (our foot mask) and Sole Revival (our foot lotion) both have Tea Tree Oil in them which is great for combating that stinky foot syndrome.
